Display
External display units for devices have different displays.
Within technology there are many ways to game in the current market. We use different displays for different things such as smart phones, consoles and computers. I will be looking into different types of display equipment. The ones I will be looking into are Built in i.e internal displays, liquid crystals, external display and monochrome displays.
Internal displays
This type of displays are used in gaming systems such as PS Vita, Gaming laptops. Nintendo DS and mobile phones. Internal displays are very common. Internal display means that its built in to the console. The internal display means that the device can be more portable than an external display. Having built in displays means that it more set up for hand held device as they are small and need little resolution. PC's need higher resolution and bigger screens so internal displays are not the best if you want the best out of your PC.
When faults occurs within the internal display usually the device breaks too. If you damage the screen the device may not work again. This can be cause by the device being dropped and having the screen smash this means it won't work. Below are two examples of internal displays.

External displays can be found on Xbox 360, PC gaming systems, Playstation 4 and Wii. HDMI displays such as Wii/ computers can connect through AV cables as the signal. However you will need a converter as AV cables are analogue. External displays are a good way to get a image to be displayed on a device. 3D televisions are the latest in a long line of technological improvements. PC's putting the hardware inside so its directly built into the display screen. This is not the best way to do it as having them built in means that they cannot be changed or updated.
External displays until internal displays can break on there own without affecting the whole device. This means you can replace this unit once broken as opposed to having to replace the whole thing like internal displays.

Liquid Crystal Displays
Liquid crystal displays are used in display monitors and flat screen televisions. LCD use light to display the image and transfer it onto screen. LCD do not emit light themselves they need a light source behind the LCD screen this will show the pixels. This type of screen needs a AC power source as the light sources uses it.
One of the main benefits is that the LCD uses less power than other like laptops and handheld devices which need charging. LCD can send images out in colour and monochrome.
Some times you may want more than one crystal layer and you will still want the light to get through to see the pixels. If one is titled the colours may look darker and you may not be able to see through them. If they are placed along side each other the light passes through without an issue.
To your right is a good example of how LCD is done.

Colour Displays
Most displays now will be in colour depending on the device its connected to. This is due to displays and technologies using more colour not just black and white. LCD's can display 16.7 million colours to project a good quality image and with new and up and coming technology moving towards 3D display units.

Monochrome Displays
Monochrome display just display black and white images. They are used in systems that have no need for colour like cockpit information, home phones and internal displays for household appliances. As you can see from the image to the left the home phone only needs a monochrome display to give you the information you need.
