Application Software
Application software is software the has one or more programs that have a specific job to do in an application. Software uses other system software to run its program as it cannot just run on its own. Different software uses different programming languages to allow the user to use it. The different software languages are used to interpret the script into the game. This gives the developer the method to write program in Java and have it play on more than more platform.
A compiled language is where you code that is already there which can be compiled into instructions. Interpreted language is the opposite you create the code. The code is written line by line and sometimes needs software to interpret that code. Interpreted language can be slower. Java and C# have some great advantages like type checking, dynamic typing and extensive type information this can be stored, this can have an affect on the interpreter as this is where it store it slows down the interpreters capillarity.
Object-oriented programming is a language which every piece of language or code that is written is grouped as objects. Objects are basically bits of code that perform certain activities depending what they have been coded to do. The objects that is stored defines the behavior of the program. An example of this could be if there was a 'GetDetailsofGame object that could fetch the code needed for the game to play.There are quite a few languages that are object orientated such as C++, Java, C# and J2SE. All these languages use objects to perform certain tasks. Games and mobile phones use such scripts as they are perfect for this.
Key advantages:
* Its easy to use and maintain
* Its stable
* Its faster to develop as you ca reuse code
Key disadvantages:
* It difficult to learn - things such as inheritance and polymorphisum
* Its larger in size - due to having more codes.

ActionScript is programming language that is object orientated. It was developed originally by Macromedia inc. Its part of HyperTalk the language of HyperCard. ActionScript is set up to script the Adobe Flash Platform it developed mainly for websites. It uses webpages by embedding SWF Files.
SWF files are Shockwave Flash files they contain video and vector animations and sound that is used on the web
The software was originally crested to control 2D vector animations in Adobe Flash. The early version gave limited features and little scripting ability. Its main focus was just on animation. Where as now there are so many things that can be done with it like creating web based games and great internet application which stream media like videos and audio files,

Script most commonly used in webpages for things like different menus, advert displays and graphic displays. An good example of scripting is Java scripting this can be used to develop websites. There are many scripting languages such as QuackC, Lingo, Unreal Script and Maya.
UnrealScript, Maya and Quack C are used for gaming engines and high level programming UnrealScript uses object orientated language that is used with Unreal Engine to help users to create models/ assets for games. QuackC does exactly the same as UnrealScript just used a different game engine. Maya uses embedded language to simplify a task in Autodeak software.
